Carefree and fun bathing is guaranteed on the island of Borkum where lifeguards watch over three beaches. Whether you opt for the nudist beach, the north beach or the south beach, a refreshing dip in the sea is a must. However, please take note of the following information for your own safety:
During the main bathing season, lifeguards from the DLRG monitor safety at various beach sections on Borkum. These beaches have been awarded the "Lifeguarded Beach" certificate. Please only swim in the lifeguarded bathing areas and observe the signs and bathing times on site. The bathing areas are marked by red and yellow flags. The colours of the flags at the DLRG station have the following meaning:
- Red/yellow: The beach is guarded by lifeguards and there is no danger.
- Yellow: There is a danger; please ask the lifeguards for information.
- Red: Swimming is prohibited.
Also pay attention to the
signals of the lifeguards (whistle, horn signals, hand signals) and talk to them if you are unsure, as they will be happy to help you.
